Third major acrylic painting I've done, fourth counting everything. Was quite a ride. Lots of symbolism. Main figure is the normally blindfolded "Lady Justice" who resides in court rooms, also referenced to as "Blind Justice."
Symbolism (just to help you out): Combat Boot, Homeless [barefoot], America Flag [retalliation of Lady through sword's defense impaired/unpatriotic], Dirty Katrina Water, Hitler, Judge's Gavel [inscribed'Justice'], Bible, Barbed Wire [racism, American], Elephant vrs Donkey, Money [bills], Money [symbol], America, Cross Shaved into Fur, Olive Branch, Crown of Thorns, Oil [spilling everywhere], Blood/Bone vrs Oil/Money [normally, which would weigh more?], Snake, Twin Towers, Plane, White America, Rich White Men, Torn Dress & Free Hair [Lady Justice is normallly displayed fairly pristine tidy with a full length dress a her hair in a bun], etc Just look for yourself. geomexia2006 CommentsFantastic! Love all the symbolism, you mustve taken ages to compile it all together, and it works really well, the central figure is striking in her pose and all the details are almost barely contained, it helps to create the sense that they almost overwhelm justice and that she can barely hold out against it all. Also love the textures youve managed to incorporate, the bible cover is really effective, awesome stuff
-- ~the problem with life is that you live it going forwards but only learn from it looking backwards Wow, I had to read it to check everything there. I really like this.
-- My drawings, photography, and manips can be found on =takuminanashi This is probably the best piece of work on DA.
You really put a lot of thought into it, and it really worked out. I love it. It's very well done, and I love the message you're sending. -- "The night has a thousand eyes, And the day but one; Yet the light of the bright world dies, With the dying sun; The mind has a thousand eyes, And the heart but one; Yet the light of a whole life dies, when love is done." Outstanding work that flows quite well from one thing to the next.
The rendering appears a little mushy in areas (Justice's skin and hair in particular), but I'm assuming that you worked on a fair-sized canvas and weren't able to scan it, correct? -- *Melts into a puddle of ooze.* "Never be afraid to make bad art." |
